I apply to Konstfack WIRE master group because of its rigorous commitment to interdisciplinary study and its academic focus. The WIRE program is international, focused on collaborative research and innovative approaches, and is based in one of the most dynamic and artistically diverse regions in the world.

While the curator has traditionally been primarily associated with art history, the field of architectural analysis is rich in practical applications for one concerned with the exhibition of objects in space. Contemporary art is increasingly concerned with multi-screen projections, installations, and multi-media works that require a deeper understanding of architectural principals in order to be done justice, especially if an attempt is made to remove the works from the safety of a ‘white cube’. Konstfack’s commitment to rigorous interdisciplinary analysis of exhibition construction is consonant with my own interests in the way contemporary domestic architecture in Africa and Asia could be analyzed to develop local exhibition strategies responding to the challenge facing international curators today.
